Hi, I'm Kim. Please let me share a little about myself with you. I am the Clinical Director at Family Psychiatric Associates. I love being a psychotherapist and I have been in practice for a long time now. I have learned a lot from my patients and I hope to think that they have also learned a few things from me through the years.

I graduated from The Catholic University of America's National Catholic School of Social Service which is located in Washington, DC in 1984.

I am primarily a cognitive-behavioral therapist who focuses on my patient and frequently borrows some techniques or tools from other treatment approaches if the need arises. I believe in the strength of individuals and offer empathy, caring, understanding and respect to my patients.

You will be heard in session. I am a good listener but I also expect my patients to do some work toward their own wellness. You will develop goals that become your treatment plan and I promise it is a happy day when a patient realizes those treatment goals have been reached. I want my patients to evolve in therapy and leave treatment in a better psychological place from when they began and if there are some tears or a little laughter along the way that is okay too.

One of my areas of expertise is treating patients who are challenged by anxiety and panic disorder. I also work with people with depressive symptoms and bipolar issues. I incorporate techniques to address the Executive Function issues (working memory, planning, organization, time management and several others) that occur with ADHD, anxiety and depression. For over a decade, I have supported and treated members of the LGBTQ+ community for couples counseling, gender dysphoria and other relevant issues in a safe, accepting environment. Other areas of expertise include women’s issues, patients suffering from abuse and traumas, and grief counseling.

I enjoy working with children and adolescents as young as five years of age to young adulthood who struggle with depression, anxiety, ADHD, behavioral issues at home or day care/school and learning challenges in school. Parenting management is also offered for parents struggling with being effective with their children.
