Dennis T. Cozzens MD
Dr. Cozzens is a board certified psychiatrist who has been in private practice for 25 years. Dr. Cozzens earned his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine after which he completed his Adult Psychiatry residency at St. Vincent Medical Center in New York City and his Child Psychiatry Fellowship at Georgetown University. Dr. Cozzens also completed an Addiction Medicine Fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic. He, as well as Tom Kunzig LCSW and Kim Carr LCSW, began Family Psychiatric Associates in 1993. Dr. Cozzens expertise lies in treating complex presentations in a thoughtful but comprehensive manner.
H. Erik Ramsey PMHNP-BC
Mr. Ramsey is a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years experience in the field of psychiatry. Mr. Ramsey earned his BSN from Regents College in New York prior to completing his Masters Degree in Nursing at George Mason University and his Nurse Practitioner Certificate at Rush University in Chicago. Mr. Ramsey worked for several years at Georgetown University before joining Family Psychiatric Associates. While Mr Ramsey enjoys treating a wide variety of psychiatric issues including depression, anxiety, insomnia, attentional problems he is especially adept at integrating conventional methods of treatment with alternative and complimentary approaches.
Kimberly Carr LCSW
Ms. Carr is a Certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned both her Bachelors and Masters Degree in Social Work from The Catholic University in Washington DC. Prior to establishing Family Psychiatric Associates in 1993 with Dr. Dennis Cozzens and Mr. Thomas Kunzig, Ms. Carr worked extensively with child protective services in Faifax County by providing treatment to families who were identified with abuse issues. Currently Ms. Carr enjoys working with patients who hope to attain positive and lasting change through psychotherapy. Drawing on 25 years of experience, Ms. Carr employs a cognitive-behavioral approach in an accepting, safe environment in our Woodbridge office.
Thomas J. Kunzig LCSW, BCD
Mr. Kunzig is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been a psychotherapist in private practice for the last 25 years. Mr. Kunzig earned his Masters Degree in Social Work at Catholic University which included a two year externship in Advanced Psychotherapy and Family Therapy. After working for several years with Fairfax County he began Family Psychiatric Associates with Dennis Cozzens MD and Kimberly Carr LCSW in 1993. Mr. Kunzig specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and medical-psychological factors with a particular interest in the deeper psychological issues at the core of each patient. Mr. Kunzig works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families as well.
Brenda Fawcett, Ph.D.
Dr. Brenda Fawcett is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, who has practiced in a variety of community mental health agency, school, clinic, hospital, and private practice settings, since 1981. Dr. Fawcett earned her degree in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University, in Chicago. She completed her internship at Children's Hospital in Boston, MA. Dr. Fawcett's approach is careful, measured, thorough, and colaborative, in an attempt to bring clarity to complicated psychological issues. And related to this appreciation of nuance and complexity, Dr. Fawcett's goal is to write reports that translate the raw testing data into usable, readable, and practical information / recommendations for families and therapists.
