Patient-focused Approach to Therapy

A patient focused approach to talk therapy allows the patient to do most of the talking. The therapist listens and may restate what the patient has said to clarify and understand the thoughts and feelings of the patient. This type of approach to treatment was developed by psychologist, Carl Rogers, in the 1940’s.

Our clinicians at FPA offer acceptance and caring to their patients. They are clinicians who display unconditional positive regard and accurate empathy in their therapeutic approach with patients which are the basis for person (patient) focused therapy.
